Snakes in Louisiana
Louisiana has over fifty snake species thriving throughout the state, seven of which are venomous. The venomous ones rarely cause any harm to humans unless provoked or disturbed. They mostly dwell in the rural regions and barely inhabit urban lands. For instance, the copperheads are found near leaf heaps or potted plants, whereas the rattlesnakes live near forests, swamps, marshes, and sugar cane fields.
The Louisiana pine snake is the state’s largest, measuring between 48 and 58 inches.
