Snakes in Georgia
Georgia has around 46 snake species of which two, namely the southern hognose snake, and eastern indigo snake are legally threatened. The state is geographically diverse with a mountainous terrain in the north particularly northwest and northeast, Coastal Plains to the south and Piedmont plateau in the central region. So, snakes thrive here in almost every environment. Georgia has its share of invasive species with reports of a python spotted in one of the homes of central Georgia in 2020.
