Snakes in Nebraska
Nebraska has four venomous snake species, of which the timber rattlesnake is the deadliest, found in the state’s south-eastern part, inhabiting rocky areas, woodlands, and streams. The gopher snake, reaching around 96 inches, is Nebraska’s biggest snake found along riparian woodlands and river floodplains in the eastern part.
