Snakes in Delaware
Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control identifies around 19 snake species uniformly distributed throughout the state. The commonly found species include the common garter snake, common water snake, black racer, and eastern rat snake. Of all the snakes, only two, i.e., the timber rattlesnake and eastern copperhead, are venomous.
