Snakes in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago has the majority of snakes in the Caribbean Islands, over sixty recorded species, with around forty in Trinidad and twenty in Tobago. The biggest snake of Trinidad, also the world’s heaviest, is the green anaconda, weighing over 550 pounds. The deadliest snake here, mainly inhabiting Trinidad, is the South American bushmaster.

The boa constrictor, locally called the macajuel, is Trinidad’s second largest snake reaching around 9 feet.
