Snakes in New South Wales (NSW)

New South Wales has several venomous snakes, with three of the most dangerous ones deemed the world’s deadliest – the coastal taipan, the eastern brown snake, and the tiger snake. The coastal taipan inhabits north-eastern New South Wales, while the eastern brown snake dwells in the central southern part of the state.

Like most other regions, snake season in New South Wales occurs when it is warm in summer and autumn.

Of the biggest snakes living here, a giant mulga or king brown snake named Titan deserves special mention. It has made the Australian Reptile Park, located on NSW’s central coast, its home, measuring around 8-9.5 feet.
